Chehalem Permaculture is the web presence of Joshua Smith Permaculture.
What is Permaculture?
Permaculture is a design science. It is decision making and problem solving techniques based on observations of nature.
The Story of Chehalem Permaculture
Chehalem Permaculture has a site nestled in the Chehalem Mountain range in Yamhill County, Oregon. The site is forested primarily with Douglas Fir and Vine Maple but work is being done to convert this to a food woodland.
I, Joshua Smith, came to permaculture based on my desire to homestead in maner that worked with God's created order, not against it. I found Joel Salatin, and while learning more about him, I then found a YouTube video of Paul Wheaton comparing Mr. Salatin to Sepp Holzer. I have not been the same since.
In 2012 I took a Permaculture Design Course from Toby Hemenway and I plan to take a Permaculture Teacher Training from Jude Hobbs. One of my primary goals is to demonstrate the love and peace Jesus taught, by working with God's created order to increase Earth's livability.
